Mahamat Saleh Haroun leads Chad’s film renaissance

Chad is a country with a few directors, just two. Also Mahamat Saleh Haroun is probably the only well known director from this African country. After his latest film Un Homme Qui Crie (2010)  that was mainly produced in France he decided to return to his homeland in order to lead Chad’s film renaissance. According to Indiewire‘s report he is currently in post-production on his next work, Grisgris. The film written by Saleh-Haroun and centers on Grisgris, a 25 year old boy with dreams of becoming a dancer despite the fact his leg is paralysed. His dreams are shattered when his uncle falls seriously ill. To save him, he decides to work for petrol smugglers. The worldwide premiere of the film is set during the Cannes film festival in May.
