Adèle Exarchopoulos & Tahar Rahim are Anarchists
Exarchopoulos and Rahim are the lead actors of Elie Wajeman’s Les Anarchists.
Adèle Exarchopoulos and Tahar Rahim are anarchists, at least early 20th century anarchists. The winner of 2013 Palme d’or for Abdellatif Kechiche ‘s La Vie d’Adèle (Blue is the Warmest Color) and the lead actor of Jacques Audiard’s Cannes’ Jury awarded film Un Prophète (2009) will be the main protagonists of Elie Wajeman’s Les Anarchistes (The Anarchists).
According to the first reports the shooting will start this week and as the title clearly suggests it will be about anarchists. Les Anarchistes is set in 1899 Paris and tells the story of a poor and orphan brigadier who is selected to sneak into a group of anarchists.
Adèle Exarchopoulos is almost ready for her American debut as she is now working with Sean Penn who directs his new film, The Last Face. The French actress will appear along with Charlize Theron and Javier Bardem. Also these days her last feature film Voyage vers la mere (Journey to the Mother) directed by Russian Mikhail Kosyrev-Nesterov premiered at the 45th International Film Festival of India.
Tahar Rahim who was also the protagonist of Fatih Akin’s last film The Cut is still enjoying the success in his homeland as the French dramedy Samba with Omar Sy and Charlotte Gainsbourg was well received by the audience. Rahim has already played with the other leading actress of La Vie d’Adèle, Léa Seydoux, in Rebecca Zlotowski’s romantic drama Grand Central (2013).
Les Anarchistes will be the second feature film directed by Elie Wajeman who impressed in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs of 65th Cannes Film Festival with his debut film Alyah that was also nominated for the Golden Camera award.
