24fpsverite Logo

It has been almost 1 year since the total relaunch of 24 fois la vérité par seconde to a more dynamic and fresh blog. Also six months ago the old blog has been transformed to a true cinpehile website strictly oriented to specific films, news, videos and other media. Today the website gets another upgrade starting with this new logo and with the promise to cover major cinematic events on a daily basis, offer more reviews and explore lesser known paths.

Last year 24fpsverite.com was simply another cinephile blog with some readers and some friends. During that last 12 months more than 24,000 readers visited the site, almost 800 friends joined the Facebook page and the followers of Twitter and Pinterest are still growing.

I would like to thank everyone for this support and I hope that my site will get better and better in the near future. My initial drive to create this blog was just to share the films I like, I still continue to do the same thing and I’m glad that everyday I find out that there are other people who enjoy the same cinema as me.

Thank you and keep on reading.

REVIEWS

Suntan – Jerusalem 33

Argyris Papadimitropoulos’ third feature film is a bleak and bittersweet cul-de-sac set under the glaring Aegean sun.

Ja Tozhe Hochu (Me Too) – Venice 69 Orizzonti

Alexei Balabanov's last and most personal film. An adaptation on Tarkovsky's Stalker myth set in Balabanov's provocative world.

The President – Venice 71 Orizzonti

An allegorical political satire by Mohsen Makhmalbaf, that despite the initial absurdity becomes predictable and didactic in a simplistic way.

Pisma Myortvogo Cheloveka (Letters from a Dead Man, 1986)

Konstantin Lopushansky re-creates the post-apocalyptic terror of a nuclear disaster on Chernobyl's aftermath as a Stalker's flip-side.

Interruption – Venice 72 Orizzonti

With his directorial debut, Yorgos Zois breaks the fourth wall as he is experimenting on how myth and art interrupt actual life. Or is it the other way around?

QUOTES

Pier Paolo Pasolini – Sesso, consolazione della miseria!

Sesso, consolazione della miseria!

How to make a bed

Films teach you how to live, how to make a bed.

Pasolini on Hope

Hope is invented by politicians to keep the electorate happy.

I don’t like the word success

For me, success means attaining something I'd really like. That's success.

Bertolucci – Dreams from the Other Side

If it was right to dream in '68 it's even more right to go on dreaming today.
